Do you need to
STARVE to THRIVE?
This summer, we all want to shed a pound or ten, but many
of us mistakenly believe we must starve ourselves in order to achieve
our goal. The key to our desired figure has less to do with diet and more
to do with the correct nutrition. You have to learn to choose the right
food groups to compliment at the same time your silhouette, your skin,
and your mental well-being:
Fish is excellent for keeping slim, as well as giving
shine to your hair and doing wonders for your skin. Don’t hesitate to
choose seafood on the menu, especially if it is broiled instead of fried,
and served on a bed of steamed vegetables instead of rice or freedom fries.
The fish lowest in calories include whiting, cod, and sole but even so-called
“fatty” fish such as sardines, tuna and mackerel are not much higher in
calories. Fish contain fatty acids that are a known anti-wrinkle element
rivaling any expensive face cream.
Meats and Poultry are essential to maintain your muscles
nice and toned. If you lack proteins, it’s your muscles that go limp and
even turn into fat!!! Poultry up to three times a week, and red meat once
a week is the perfect balance.
Vegetables eaten raw contain 3 to 4 times more vitamin
C than if cooked. Universally recognized by scientists as improving your
blood circulation, vegetables will reduce unwanted redness in your skin
as well as shielding you from heart disease. Fibers found in apples, prunes,
peaches, and broccoli, to name a few, will have amazing effects on your
digestion and reduce the release of insulin in your body. Instead of eating
your salad with creamy dressings, splash some olive oil and lemon juice
or balsamic vinegar on them, it will be yummier!
Last but not least, you must drink lots of water along
with all these meals we have described. Water can help you stay thin as
long as you drink at least 1.5 litres, and stay away from sugary pop drinks!
Alcohol makes you fat so better stay away from those beloved martinis.
If you want flavor, opt for a fruit cocktail instead and once in a while,
a glass of red wine.
Who says that you have to suffer to keep
a slim
figure? The key to a healthy diet with long lasting
results is not to make severe changes for a short time
then revert back to the old ways. Create a program
for yourself that you can stick to long-term. Any
regiment that makes you miserable is not worth it, and
will only precipitate failure. Exercise is a key
companion to a healthy nutrition. If you must have
those chocolate cookies, indulge your cravings. Then,
do some extra laps around the pool!
