I
just wanted to let you know I enjoyed reading your publication Salam
Worldwide. Your feature “The 10 sexiest Iranian women on the planet”
was especially creative, and an idea we had considered for some
time. You beat us to it! Regardless, your publication is very well
done and a welcome addition to the Iranian media. Keep up the good
work!
Josh E. Gross, Publisher & CEO, Beverly Hills Weekly
Your
editorial, condoning a “what do I care” attitude because the author
of the Encino arsons was a Jewish Iranian, is another example of
the old prejudices in the Iranian community, which are hard to let
go of, even after “a smidgen of logic kicked in.”
Shaffi L., Sherman Oaks.
I
loved your editorial!!! I mean, the media loves to invent hate-motivated
crimes, especially in our times. But did anyone report the case
of a white American woman who recently ran down a Latino man because
she claimed he was “roadkill”? We have enough hate-crimes out there
without inventing one!
Sahar T., Encino.
Ha
ha, that cartoon with the KKK was hilarious! Who is the author?
Is he iranian – sorry – eyeranian ? J
Maz, Hollywood.
Why
would Erin Brockovich be interested in rich Beverly Hills High?
Simple. I’ll give you one hint: The Green! While she achieved “the
biggest settlement in California history” with her suit against
P,G & E, let’s remember that the attorneys collected $133.6
million in fees from the 1996 settlement, while Ms. Brockovich herself
collected a $2 million bonus. Need I say more?

I
am not surprised that there would be an environmental disaster cover-up
right under our noses (“Trouble in Paradise: Toxins at 90210”).
I am an avid reader of environmental cases such as the one involving
Jan Schlichtmann, which was turned into the move ‘A Civil Action’,
starring John Travolta. In that case, Mr. Schlichtmann has the misfortune
of crossing paths with a biased judge who let the corporate powerhouses
drive him into the ground with the exorbitant fees and costs of
a case of this nature. But let’s remember the Environmental Protection
Agency used the data compiled by Mr. Schlichtmann to later sanction
those same companies. Any attorneys or non-attorneys such as Ms.
Brockovich, who dare go against the old boys club, will be reviled
and discredited by their targets. However, let’s hope with Ms. Brockovich’s
now famous gusto, this is another battle she will win against the
corporate giants.

Can
you please tone it down with those unnecessarily scantily clad women
(“Ibiza, Ibiza”). I brought this paper home, thinking it was a wholesome
Iranian magazine, and let my kids read it. I was shocked by how
much skin you have in the magazine! Please try to keep our Iranian
culture and not become some pornographic trash!
Mohammed Q., Van Nuys.
The
story of Farzad Bazoft (“When Saddam executed an Iranian born journalist”)
was heartbreaking. Incidentally, the Guardian has recently published
three consecutive stories on him.
Sheyda, London.
I
was disturbed by the release from Sen. Sam Brownback advocating
an Iraq-style overthrow of the Iranian “tyranny.” Does anyone remember
Ghandi anymore? You have to let a country sort out its own problems
on the path to democracy. Any foreign-rooted “liberation” is nothing
but invasion.
Mandana Z., Sweden.
Just
a note to let you know I went and checked out Haale, the Iranian-American
singer from New York, and I want to thank you for bringing to the
community’s attention this rare talent. Finally, an Iranian singer
we can be proud of!
